Description

Farrowing pigs in outdoor settings has never been safer or easier than with Osborne’s Hog Hut Farrowing House for regenerative pig farming. Hog Hut features a generous 46.5 sq. ft. of anti-slip and impact-resistant, hinged flooring system. Fully-insulated and corrosion-resistant fiberglass-reinforced structural panels with hot-dipped galvanized framework provides excellent protection from weather extremes and adds to the durability of the Hog Hut. Built-in fork slots are included for easy moving and automated dumping of internal contents after weaning.

During the heat of summer, Hog Hut’s hinged flooring system allows for summer ground cooling, and natural summertime ventilation can be used with a hinged roof and 20 x 30-in. latching entry door. A separated creep area at the hut’s rear helps reduce crush losses. R-7.5 rated insulation provides ample winter protection.

Overall size 93 x 72 x 54-in., approximately 600 lbs. Ships knocked down for on-site assembly. Factory assembly and factory pick-up available by special order.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will the Hog Hut keep my sows and piglets warm enough during cold weather?
The Hog Hut’s fiberglass-reinforced structural panels for the roof, floor, and walls have an insulation factor of R-7.5. This, accompanied with the bedding material inside the Hut and the body heat the animals create, should create an environment sustainable for a sow and her piglets even in the cold winter months.
  2. How will I keep my sow cool during the heat of summer?
The Hog Hut features a hinged flooring system that can be rotated out to allow for direct ground cooling. Cross-ventilation is accomplished by vents on each end of the Hog Hut’s roof, or the hinged roof system can be slightly opened to allow fresh air to enter the unit from the top.
  3. How do I move the Hog Hut?
The Hog Hut features built-in fork slots for easy moving. Forks on a tractor or skid steer must be a minimum of 72-in. (6-ft.) to engage an internal lift chain. Once the chain is engaged by the forks, the unit can be lifted and moved. Never transport the Hog Hut with the flooring system hanging open freely, though. Doing so will prevent the open flooring panels from catching the ground which could result in permanent damage to the unit.
  4. Do you offer feeding and watering options for the sow and/or piglets?
Many feeding and watering products are available for sows and piglets being raised outdoors. Contact Osborne with your specific requirements and we can help you source the solution that best fits your needs.
