Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Should I use a power control with my Stanfield Heat Pad?
Osborne always recommends the use of a power control for any heat pad setup so that a safe and comfortable temperature can be maintained for your animal. In addition to keeping the connected mat comfortable for the animal(s) using it, energy savings can be extended by reducing the power traveling to the mat when ambient conditions don’t require additional heat or animals “outgrow” the need for supplemental heat. A power control is especially recommended for newborn animals, like whelping puppies, as very young animals often do not have the strength or ability to move off the mat if they become too warm.
  2. How does the Model F911 heat mat control regulate the heat to the connected Stanfield Heat Pad?
The Model F911 heat mat control works similarly to a dimmer switch for lighting. As the dial on the control is turned down, power traveling to the mat is reduced, and thus its temperature. The lower the setting on the control, the less voltage is traveling to the mat, reducing the mat’s surface temperature accordingly.
  3. Does the Model F911 heat mat control have an OFF switch?
Yes. The Model F911 control can be turned off by turning the dial all the way to the left until it “clicks” off. When the control is off, the red indicator light will not be lit up.
  4. How many Stanfield Heat Pads can be connected to the Model F911 control?
The Model F911 includes two built-in plugs and will regulate up to two Stanfield heat mats simultaneously. Maximum control capacity is 600W. The control should not be used with any electrical appliance other than a Stanfield heat mat.
